A Simple Imbolc Ritual

Imbolc heralds the shift in seasons from winter to spring.  While winter may still be around for a while, we begin preparing for spring at this time.  Doing things like preparing seed lists and planning gardens, starting seeds, and even spring cleaning are all ways people have been celebrating Imbolc for centuries.  Here is another simple ritual you might like to do.

Head to your favorite natural place, someplace sacred to you outside.  You’ll need to take some milk or water with you; milk is the traditional drink of Imbolc but I prefer taking water because it is the life source for all life on our planet.  As you make your way to your sacred spot, forage for snow, pine cones, evergreens, etc.  Be sure you’re looking for signs of spring as you go.  Once you arrive at your spot, arrange your cache around you in a way that makes you feel connected the changing energies around you.  Everything around you is “on the verge” of awakening; drink in that energy of “potential.”

Pour your water into a cup and hold it aloft and say something like:

“My Lady and my Lord,
charge the water in this cup so that it may
nourish my bones and my soul as I share it
with those beings here with me now
and with those who will come after

Guardians of the four sacred directions
charge the water in this cup so that it may
remind me of my connection to all living things,
of my responsibility to all living things
and help watch over me, protect me, and keep me safe

The wheel turns and the earth begins to stir
shaking off winter’s blanket and embracing the sun’s return
opening up to the possibilities of new life,
the potential in rebirth and
the promise of spring

I drink the water you have thus charged
and take that promise into my body
may it lift my soul and warm my bones
charging my power so that I might become a force
for positive change in the world around me

As I will it, so mote it be!”

Sip from your cup and reflect on the blessings of surviving the winter, the blessings in your life, and so on.  Pour the remaining water onto the earth or leave your cup with your wild altar.

Blessed be,

Rain

Asking questions are really fastidious thing if you are not understanding something totally, but this paragraph
    offers nice understanding yet.
