The Five Fold Kiss

The Five-Fold Kiss is an element of Wiccan ritual which involves blessing five sacred parts of the body. With each bestowed blessing the area of the body is sealed with a kiss. Wiccan tradition practises differ, but the Five-Fold Kiss is first and foremost a blessing bestowed upon the High Priestess by the High Priest or by the High Priestess upon the High Priest. The ritual symbolises the act of honoring the person as a vessel of the female or male version of Deity.

Each kiss given is accompanied by a blessing:

Blessed be thy feet, that have brought thee in these ways Blessed be thy knees, that shall kneel at the sacred altar Blessed be thy [womb/phallus], without which we would not be Blessed be thy breasts/chest, formed in [beauty/strength] Blessed be thy lips, that shall utter the Sacred Names.

FIVE FOLD KISS FEMALE The High Priest kneels before the High Priestess and gives her the Five Fold Kiss; that is, he kisses her on both feet, both knees, womb, both breasts, and the lips, starting with the right of each pair. He says, as he does this: “Blessed be thy feet, that have brought thee in these ways. Blessed be thy knees, that shall kneel at the sacred altar. Blessed be thy womb, without which we would not be. Blessed be thy breasts, formed in beauty. Blessed be thy lips, that shall utter the Sacred Names.” For the kiss on the lips, they embrace, length-to-length, with their feet touching each others. When he reaches the womb, she spreads her arms wide, and the same after the kiss on the lips. FIVE FOLD KISS MALE The High Priestess kneels before the High Priest and gives him the Five Fold Kiss; that is, she kisses him on both feet, both knees, phallus, both breasts, and the lips, starting with the right of each pair. she says, as she does this: “Blessed be thy feet, that have brought thee in these ways. Blessed be thy knees, that shall kneel at the sacred altar. Blessed be thy phallus, without which we would not be. Blessed be thy breasts, formed in strength. Blessed be thy lips, that shall utter the Sacred Names.” For the kiss on the lips, they embrace, length-to-length, with their feet touching each others. When she reaches the phallus, he spreads his arms wide, and the same after the kiss on the lips. Blessed Be

Since many wiccans and pagans use the phrase “Blessed Be” It is appropriate to explain it’s origin . The phrase Blessed Be originated as part of a Wiccan ritual called the Five Fold Kiss. This ritual is used as appropriate follow-up to the invocation of the God and Goddess. It requires Love, Respect and Trust.
The complete version is as follows:
“Blessed be thy feet, that have brought thee in these ways. Blessed be thy knees that shall kneel at the sacred altar. Blessed be thy womb, without which we would not be. Blessed be thy lips, that shall utter the Sacred Names.”
So when we say “Blessed Be” to each other we are honoring each others entire being in a most sacred way.

A designated coven member lights all four elemental candles, starting in the east and continues clockwise until all are lit.

HPS casts initial circle starting in the East and instructs coven to visualize a bluish/white light surrounding them in a clockwise motion.

HPS returns to alter and exorcises the water:
“I exorcise thee, O creature of water that thou cast out from thee all the impurities and uncleanliness of the spirits of the world of phantasm; in the names of Cernunnos and Aradia.”

HP blesses salt:
“Blessings be upon this creature of salt; let all malignity and hindrance be cast forth hence from, and let all good enter herein; wherefore do I bless thee, that thou mayest aid me in the names of Cernunnos and Aradia.”

HPS charges circle saying:
“I conjure thee, O Circle of Power, that thou beest a meetingplace of love and joy and truth; a shield against all wickedness and evil; a boundary between the world of men and the realms of the Mighty Ones; a rampart and protection that shall preserve and contain the power that we shall raise within thee. Wherefore do I bless thee and consecrate thee, in the names of Cernunnos and Aradia.”

HPS sprinkles salted water around the circle and then censers it with the incense.

Entire Coven says Invocation & Purification:
“Breath of the Gods blow through us,
Water of the moon flow through us,
Fires of the Earth glow through us, that the air may freshen,
The Waters may wash, the Fires may purge from all taint,
That being cleansed we may house our godhead,
And so the better to worship the Gods and to serve each other.”

“O’ come now into me and draw me into you,
O’ my spirit that beholds the face of God That I may know who I was,
That I may know who I am,
That I may know who I shall be,
Make me as the Gods, And so, one with all creation.

HPS calls in elements, starting in the East. While speaking she draws the invoking pentagram of Earth with her Athame. After speaking she kisses her athame and places it on her heart for a few moments:

“Ye Lords of the Watchtowers of the East, ye Lords of Air; I do summon, stir and call you up, to witness our rites and to guard the Circle.”
South:
“Ye Lords of the Watchtowers of the South, ye Lords of Fire; I do summon, stir and call you up, to witness our rites and to guard the Circle.”
West:
“Ye Lords of the Watchtowers of the West, ye Lords of Water, ye Lords of Death and of initiation; I do summon, stir and call you up, to witness our rites and to guard the circle.”
North:
“Ye Lords of the Watchtowers of the North, ye Lords of Earth; Boreas, thou guardian of the Northern portals; thou powerful God, thou gentle Goddess; we do summon, stir and call you up, to witness our rites and to guard the circle.”

HPS invites in the God & Goddess

HP performs five fold kiss. HPS hold the wand in her right hand and the scourge in her left, held against her breasts in the “Osiris position”. When the HP reaches her womb she opens her arms to the blessing position. HP kisses the HPS on her right foot, left foot, right knee, left knee, womb, right breast, left breast and lips, as he does so he says:
“Blessed be thy feet, that have brought thee in these ways. Blessed be thy knees, that shall kneel at the sacred alter. Blessed be thy womb, without which we would not be. Blessed be thy breasts, formed in beauty. Blessed be thy lips, that shall utter the Sacred Names.”

HP again kneels before the HPS, who resumes the blessing position, but with her right foot slightly forward. The HP begins to draw down the moon upon the HPS:
“I invoke thee and call upon thee, Mighty Mother of us all, bringer of all fruitfulness; by seed and root, by bud and stem, by leaf and flower and fruit, by life and love do I invoke thee to descend upon the body of this thy servant and priestess.”

During this invocation the HP touches her with his right forefinger on her right breast, left breast and womb; the same three again; and finally the right breast. Still kneeling, he then spreads his arms outwards and downwards, with the palms forward and says: “Hail, Aradia! From the Amalthean Horn, Pour forth thy store of love; I lowly bend Before thee, I adore thee to the end, with loving sacrifice thy shrine adorn. Thy foot is to my lip…”

He kisses her right foot and continues:
“…my prayer upborne, upon the rising incense-smoke; then spend Thine ancient love, O Mighty One, descend To aid me, who without thee am forlorn.”
HP stands and takes a step back still facing HPS

HPS draws the Invoking Pentagram of Earth in the air in front of HP with her wand, saying:
“Of the Mother darksome and divine
Mine the scourge, and mine the kiss
The five-point star of love and bliss –
Here I charge you, in this sign.”

HP introduces Charge:
“Listen to the words of the Great Mother; she who of old was also called among men Artemis, Astarte, Athene, Dione, Melusine, Aphrodite, Cerridwen, Dana, Arianrhod, Isis, Bride, and by many other names.”

HPS says:
“Whenever ye have need of anything, once in the month, and better it be when the moon is full, then shall ye assemble in some secret place and adore the spirit of me, who am Queen of all witches. There shall ye assemble, ye who are fain to learn all sorcery, yet have not won its deepest secrets; to these will I teach things that are yet unknown. And ye shall be free from slavery; and as a sign that ye be really free, ye shall be naked in your rites; and ye shall dance, sing, feast, make music and love, all in my praise. For mine is the ecstasy of the spirit, and mine also is joy on earth; for my law is love unto all beings. Keep pure your highest ideal; strive ever towards it; let naught stop you or turn you aside. For mine is the secret door which opens upon the Land of Youth, and mine is the cup of the wine of life, and the Cauldron of Cerridwen, which is the Holy Grail of immortality. I am the gracious Goddess, who gives the gift of joy unto the heart of man. Upon earth I give the knowledge of the spirit eternal; and beyond death, I give peace, and freedom and reunion with those that have gone before. Nor do I demand sacrifice; for behold, I am the Mother of all living, and my love is poured out upon the earth.”

HP introduces Star Goddess Charge:
“Hear ye the words of the Star Goddess; She in the dust of whose feet are the hosts of heaven, and whose body encircles the universe.”
HPS or Coven Maiden says:
“I who am the beauty of the green earth, and the white moon among the stars, and the mystery of the waters, and the desire of the heart of man, call unto thy soul. Arise, and come unto me. For I am the soul of nature, who gives life to the universe. From me all things proceed, and unto me all things must return; and before my face, beloved of Gods and of men, let thine innermost divine self be enfolded in the rapture of the infinite. Let my worship be within the hearts that rejoiceth; for behold, all acts of love and pleasure are my rituals. And therefore let there be beauty and strength, power and compassion, honour and humility, mirth and reverence within you. And thou who thinkest to seek for me, know thy seeking and yearning shall avail thee not unless thou knowest the mystery; that if that which thou seekest thou findest not within thee, thou wilt never find it without thee. For behold, I have been with thee from the beginning; And I am that which is attained at the end of desire.”

All coven members give the Horned God salute, the HP says:
“Great God Cernunnos return to earth again come at my call and show thy self to men Shepherd of goats upon the hills way lead thy lost flock from darkness unto day Forgotten are the ways of sleep and night, men seek for them whose eyes have lost the light, open the door of dreams, whereby men come to thee Shepherd of goats, O answer unto me.”

Coven can perform appropriate magick or observes Sabbat before or after the power chant, depending on preference.
Light candles, Face East and raise Athame in Salute saying:
“By the power of the rising Sun, all evil in my life is done!”
Turn to the South, salute and say:
“By the power of the noonday blast all control is mine at last!”
Turn to the West, salute and say:
“By the power of darkening night, my shield is strong, my armor tight!”
Turn to the North, salute and say:
“By Full Moon in blackened sky, I am not alone. My help is nigh. The Goddess’ hands around me stay, to keep me safe by night and day. Be gone, foul spirits, unbidden here. I sent you back. I do not fear, for I have won. I am set free. You have no further power over me!” So Mote It Be!
Face altar, pick up protection oil. Annoint each other. Starting at the forehead (3rd eye), heart, solar plexus, wrists and ankles. As you do this visualize a shining blue suit of amor slowly descending over your entire body until you are entirely protected. Cap the bottle and store in a safe place after circle.
Coven raises cone of power with appropriate power chant or traditional Witches Rune:
“Eko, Eko, Azarak
Eko, Eko, Zomelak
Eko, Eko, Cernunnos >Coven repeats this section 3x
Eko, Eko, Aradia!”
“Darksome night and shining moon,
East then South, then West, then North;
Hearken to the Witches’ Rune –
Here we come to call ye forth!
Earth and water, air and fire,
Wand and pentacle and sword,
Work ye unto our desire,
Hearken ye unto our word!
Cords and censer, scourge and knife,
Powers of the witch’s blade –
Waken all ye into life,
Come ye as the charm is made!
Queen of heaven, Queen of hell,
Horned hunter of the night –
Lend your power unto the spell,
And work our will by magic rite!
By all the powers of land and sea,
By all the might of moon and sun –
As we do will, so mote it be;
Chant the spell, and be it done!
“Eko, Eko, Azarak
Eko, Eko, Zomelak
Eko, Eko, Cernunnos >Coven repeats until ready
Eko, Eko, Aradia!”

The HP kneeling in front of the HPS offers her the chalice and he consecrates the wine saying:
“As the athame is to the male, so the cup is to the female; and conjoined, they become one in truth.”

The HP offers the Libation to the God and Goddess first as he pours it into the ground or in a bowl he says:
“Lady though we can give nothing that is not already yours, Take what we ourselves enjoy as a token of our love, In thanks for your care and in token of the giving of ourselves to serve you.”

The HPS kisses the HP and sips the wine, kisses him again and he sips, HP rises and gives it to another woman with a kiss and so on throughout the coven man to woman.

The HP kneels before HPS offering up the plate of cakes and she draws the Invoking Pentagram of Earth in the air above the cakes with her athame, while the HP says:
“O queen most secret, bless this food into our bodies; bestowing health, wealth, strength, joy, and peace, and that fulfillment of love which is perfect happiness.”

The HPS lays down her athame on the alter, kisses the HP and takes a cake from the dish. She kisses him again, and he takes a cake. He then rises and passes the dish to another woman with a kiss and so on throughout the coven man to woman.

HPS closes the circle.
Starting in the East and drawing the banishing pentagram of Earth she says:
“Ye Lords of the Watchtowers of the East, ye Lords of Air; we do thank you for attending our rites; and as you depart to your pleasant and lovely realms, we bid you hail and farewell…entire coven says “Hail and farewell”

The HPS blows out the East candle.

South:
“Ye Lords of the Watchtowers of the South, ye Lords of Fire; we do thank you for attending our rites; and as you depart to your pleasant and lovely realms, we bid you hail and farewell…Hail and farewell.”

The HPS blows out the South candle.

West:
“Ye Lords of the Watchtowers of the West, ye Lords of Water; ye Lords of Death and of Initiation; we do thank you for attending our rites; and as you depart to your pleasant and lovely realms, we bid you hail and farewell…Hail and farewell.”

The HPS blows out the West candle.

North:
“Ye Lords of the Watchtowers of the North, ye Lords of Earth; Boreas, thou guardian of the Northern portals; thou powerful God, thou gentle Goddess; we do thank you for attending our rites; and as you depart to your pleasant and lovely realms, we bid you hail and farewell…Hail and farewell.”

The HPS blows out the North Candle.

She dismisses the Lord and Lady:
“Lady and Lord, we thank you for your presence, for your circle, for light and love, for night and change. We ask for your blessing as you depart. Hail and Farewell! Blessed be!”

The HPS walks three times around the circle widdershins with her athame pointed down saying:

“Blade unseal this circle round, let it fade beneath the ground. Let all things be as they were since the beginning of time.”
May say this three times or just once depending on preference.

After the HPS finishes the closing the HP says:
“May the Gods preserve The Craft, May The Craft preserve the Gods.”

The entire coven says:
“Merry we meet, merry we part, merry we meet again, Blessed Be!”

Coven members kiss/embrace each other.
